In 2006, Arizona voters approved Proposition 300 mandating Arizona colleges and universities to deny undocumented students state-funded financial aid. Undocumented students are now required to pay out-of-state tuition rates. This legislation has made it virtually impossible for many of Arizona’s brightest undocumented students access to higher education by increasing their financial burden.
